It’s that time again when we take a look back at both the best and worst moment from this past week in wrestling television.
Kofi Kingston defeats The Miz to win the Intercontinental Championship (Main Event- 10/17/12)
It wasn’t the result of this match that was great, it was the 22 minutes of in-ring action that set it up.
This match was already well-hyped, as Miz hit Kingston with a vocal dagger when he called him the “Boom Boom Boom Guy and Nothing More.”
Things escalated further when Kingston hit Miz with a stiff Trouble in Paradise kick in their match on Raw, that knocked Miz for a loop and required several stitches.
Given the “Main Event” treatment (video packages and promos galore) that took advantage of the stiff Trouble in Paradise, this match exceled on every level. In a company that gives little to no love to the mid-card, these two men were the whole focus.
With many numerous momentum shifts and great near-falls, it could’ve gone either way, but WWE felt that Kingston’s time is now and is thus, new Intercontinental Champion.
The 3MB Take the Nashville Stage (Raw- 10/15/12)
Heath Slater started out as the One-Man Southern Rock Band.
Then he became just the One-Man Band.
Now he’s got backup members and the results are horrendous.
Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal add absolutely nothing to Slater’s game. It’s already proven by now. Their decent in-ring skills have been immensely overshadowed by this ridiculous gimmick.
On Raw, they performed in the ring to the Nashville crowd and then took the Honky Tonk Central stage and were escorted out by Security.
It didn’t get better on Smackdown when this group shined over Brodus Clay, but it was this little moment on Raw when you just knew that this group wasn’t going anywhere. They’re a joke.
What’s really scary is that theiy’re just a few Rock Band Guitars away from a Rock N’ Rave Infection Reunion Tour. This is something nobody wants to see.
